Raised by a single mother with six siblings, Andre’s rough upbringing led him to gang life which, by the time that he was in high school, earned him an over 100-year prison sentence. While in prison, Norman quickly rose through the ranks, leading him to a 2 1/2 year bid in solitary confinement. It was then that he had an epiphany, and realized that he was the king of nowhere. While there, Andre began to conceive a plan to get out of prison and attend Harvard University. With his goals in mind, Andre taught himself to read, attended anger management classes, and studied the law, enabling him to win his appeal. Armed with a GED and changed mindset, Andre walked out of prison a changed man November 15, 1999.
Today, Norman is a highly sought-after advisor who helps corporations improve the way that they deal with social justice issues by increasing their community engagement, and strengthening their leadership. In addition, he is also the nation’s leading violence interrupter who helps governing officials create plans to decrease violence across the world.
On top of his successful advising business, he is one of the most impactful international speakers in the world. He is also a best selling author and member of a board seeking change and impact in communities across the country. He collaborates with various notable organizations, including the United Nations, Genius Network, Entrepreneurs Organization, Young Presidents Organization, and Chief Executives for Corporate Purpose.
Andre made history in 2021 when one of the prison systems that he was housed at hired him to design a program, and mentor other violent offenders. Yet again, proving that the impossible is possible with Andre Norman.
